If you're an anime fan and a guitarist, then you're in for a treat.
In this post, I’ve picked 5 iconic anime songs that are super fun to play on guitar, and I’ve also included performance videos and tabs to help you get started. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to add something nostalgic and cool to your practice routine, these tunes are sure to bring a good time. They did for me!
1. Cha-La Head-Cha-La – Dragon Ball Z

This one’s a no-brainer for any anime guitarist. In fact, I can probably credit this song for wanting to pick up the guitar in the first place! Energetic, punchy, and full of childhood power-up vibes, Cha-La Head-Cha-La is the kind of tune that immediately gets attention especially if you grew up yelling “KAMEHAMEHA!!” at the screen like me.
📈 Difficulty: Easy to Intermediate
🎸 Why it’s fun: The main riff and chorus are instantly recognizable and satisfying to play.
2. Gurenge – Demon Slayer/Kimetsu no Yaiba (LiSA)

Gurenge exploded with the popularity of Demon Slayer, and it’s become a must-know for modern anime fans. The melodic hooks and emotional chord progressions make it a blast to play. The good ol' smack of the D chord in drop D is super satisfying.
📈 Difficulty: Beginner
🎸 Why it’s fun: Syncopated rhythms and open position chords give it a modern pop-rock feel, and playing in drop D is always super fun!
3. Fukai Mori – InuYasha (Do As Infinity)

Ah yes — the emotional nostalgia bomb of the early 2000s. Fukai Mori has that moody, alternative vibe that makes it perfect for a rainy afternoon jam session. And it sounds fantastic on acoustic. I remember hearing this one pop up later on as the series progressed in high school, and instantly loved it.
📈 Difficulty: High beginner/lower intermediate🎸
Why it’s fun: Smooth chord changes and a hauntingly beautiful melody make this one a sleeper favorite.
4. Beautiful World – Rebuild of Evangelion (Utada Hikaru)

This Evangelion theme by Utada Hikaru isn’t just iconic — it’s gorgeous. It leans more pop than rock, but on guitar, it translates beautifully. I arranged this one for duo acoustic guitar, so you can enjoy playing the melody along with a friend, or just playing the rhythm part and singing it.
📈 Difficulty: high beginner
🎸 Why it’s fun: Dreamy chords, smooth melodic phrasing, and a great opportunity to explore dynamics and feel.
5. Kaikai Kitan – Jujutsu Kaisen

If you’re into heavier, modern anime intros, this Jujutsu Kaisen banger is a perfect challenge. It’s got grit, rhythm, and that chaotic cool that makes it an instant favorite. A bit of a tricky one, but super fun to play with a dirty electric guitar tone.
📈 Difficulty: Intermediate to Advanced🎸
Why it’s fun: Driving riffs and big energy. It's a fast one with LOTS of aggressive picking!
