5 MORE Anime Songs You Can Play on the Guitar 🎸 (with videos + tabs)

This is a follow-up to my first “5 anime songs you can play on the guitar” post — same idea, same format: 5 iconic (or sneakily awesome) anime picks, with performance videos + tabs so you can actually learn them instead of just thinking about learning them.

1. ASUKA STRIKES! – Evangelion (Shiro Sagisu)

ASUKA STRIKES! is already a legit guitar track in the Evangelion soundtrack world — not just “anime music that happens to work on guitar.”

On the official soundtrack credits, electric guitar is listed to be performed by Fujimaru Yoshino.

Heavily inspired by country fingerpicking, this is actually a pretty good gateway into that kinda playing.

2. A Day of the Town – Lupin the Third (Yuji Ohno / You & Explosion Band)

“A Day of the Town” lives in that classy Lupin jazz universe — smooth, stylish, and full of groove. Depending on the arrangement/version you’re pulling from, it leans into that bossa sound.

Translation: it sits in that sweet spot where you can focus on clean chord comping, tight rhythm, and tasteful melody phrasing without needing it to be some shred-fest. If you like the idea of sounding “jazzy” without falling into theory quicksand, this tune tends to be a good vehicle.

This is an arrangement I did of it meant for duo guitar.

Lupin the Third – A Day of the Town (tab video)

📈 Difficulty: Easy to Intermediate (depending on your arrangement) 🎸 Why it’s fun: Bossa/fusion feel + “cool-guy” phrasing. It makes your rhythm playing sound grown.♬

3. God knows… – The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (ENOZ / Aya Hirano)

This is maybe like the "Sweet Child of Mine" of the anime world.

"You play guitar? Well, can you play the intro to God Knows?"

“God knows…” is from the cultural festival performance in the “Live Alive” episode, and it was released as part of the single “The Assortment of Haruhi Suzumiya.”

Guitar-wise, it lands in that satisfying zone of J-rock rhythm + melodic lead moments.

4. 許婚っきゅん (Iinazukkyun) – Ranma 1/2 (ano)

This one is pure modern chaos (in a good way).

ano’s 「許婚っきゅん」 is the opening theme for the newer Ranma 1/2, and it’s got that bright, hyper, “what is even happening” energy that makes anime openings so fun.

On guitar, it’s a great pick if you want to practice tight rhythmic hits, clean muting, and that “anime OP” sense of forward motion. It might not be the first thing you’d think of as a “guitar song,” which is exactly why it’s a fun addition to the list.

Ranma 1/2 OP – 許婚っきゅん (Iinazukkyun) (tab video)

5. For You – Fuuka (Fuuka Akitsuki CV: Lynn / The fallen moon)

If you want something that feels more “emotional anime band song,” “For You” is a great pick.

This track hits that sweet spot where it sounds great on guitar even with a simpler arrangement — because the vibe does a lot of the heavy lifting. It works nicely as either:

• a supportive rhythm part (big ringing chords / arpeggios), or

• a melody-forward arrangement if you want it to feel like a featured piece.

📈 Difficulty: High beginner to Intermediate

🎸 Why it’s fun: It rewards dynamics and feel — it’s not just “notes,” it’s music.♬
